Introduction
The Department of Commerce, Arts, Science and Commerce College, Manmad has been
began from June, 1969, with degree program and in June 1983 Post Graduate program were
started. The Department provides quality education and aware of its responsibilities towards
society. The various courses thought in Commerce provide the base for national integration and
inclusive growth of the Nation, enabling the students to contribute towards GDP by expanding
business, trade and industry. Our students have participated in intercollegiate project (Avishkar)
and essay competition, National Accounting Talent Search etc. Past students of the Department
are holding renowned positions in various fields after completion of degree and post graduate
program. Some of them have been working as a businessman, Industrialist, while there are
successful Chartered Accountants and Lawyers and other are doing profession, lecturer also.
Under the guidance of institutional patron Dr. Samajshri. Prashantji Hiray, Dr.Apoorva
Hiray, Member of legislative Council Maharashtra, Dr. B.S.Jagdale department is progressing

1] Introduction:
About the Department:
The Department of Commerce, Arts, Science and Commerce College, Manmad has been began

Objectives:
- To strive for excellence in education for the realization of a vivacious and
comprehensive society through knowledge creation and dissemination
- To blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills
- To create knowledge based students in commerce to meet the challenges of 21st century.
- To motivate the students for higher education in commerce such as CA, CS, ICMAI ,
MBA, Ph.D., LLB, LLM, NET , SET etc.
3. Purpose of the Department
The purpose of the department are as follows:
- To apply qualitative and quantitative research techniques to gather and analyse and
present the data on commerce, trade and industry.
- To establish connections between everyday life at the local level and the forces that
network them into a global community.
- To understand modern management strategies and tools.
- To think in longitudinal terms to explain what has occurred in the industry in past as
well as using advance principles and techniques to know the present and plan for the
future.
- To make students aware about their contribution to the GDP and ultimately for
Sustainable development.
- To create knowledge based students in commerce to meet the challenges of 21st century.
- To counseling the students to face the various competitive examinations for carrier
building.
4] Roles and Responsibilities:
Role of Commerce Teacher:
1) The Commerce teacher will act as a organizer to the students to help them in learning
various accounting, tax and management and marketing concepts, gather information
from different sources, experiencing the business environment for profound
understanding the theoretical concepts, etc.
2) The Commerce teacher explain the advance concept and formulas in cost and accounting
and their application.
3) The Commerce teacher develop teaching plans, teach , assess students' awareness, and
monitor student progress through continuous internal evaluation such as assignments,
tutorials, tests, class seminars, presentations, competitive exams, internal examinations,
projects , study visits etc.
4) The Commerce teacher pursues to inculcate research aptitude among the students
especially PG students by assigning them projects, dissertations, etc.
Responsibilities of Commerce Teacher:
1) Supervise students at computer laboratory and study visit.
2) Participate in planning, evaluating, and revising university curriculum, course content,
and course materials and methods of instruction.
3) Plan and organize study visits that encourage student active participation, involvement,
and team work.
4) Maintain student attendance records, grades, results and other necessary records.
5) To prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate and Post graduate classes on different
topics.
6) Prepare course materials such as notes, assignments, question bank and question paper.
7) Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies,
departmental matters, and academic issues.
8) Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
9) To develop, design, or create new applications, teaching –learning methods,
relationships and systems.
10) Perform administrative duties such as serving as department head.
11) Maintain lecture time-table and scheduled office hours in order to teach, assist and guide
students as well as carry out departmental work such as maintaining record, preparation
of notes, assignments, etc.
12) Prepare research grant proposals in order to procure external research funding.
13) Carry out minor/major research project work in addition to regular teaching-learning
process.
14) Adopt recent changes in commerce, trade and industry and make awareness of this
among the students.
5] Resources and Materials:
1) All newly purchased items are recorded in Dead Stock Register of the department and
annual Stock verification is done by the verification committee appointed in college.
2) The department have one steel cupboard.
3) All departmental stationary has been kept in the cupboard.
4) Departmental Library Books, Projects, Reports, are kept in the cupboard
5) Department has its own Academic Calendar and every member of the department have
to follow the same.
6) Department has Computer Lab with 10 desktop having Tally ERP 9 software.
7) Every year department organizes study visit for practical knowledge and skills.
6] Supplementary Information
Replacement of HOD:
a) In case the HOD is on leave the charge of HOD will be handed over to Associate
Professor.
b) If both HOD and Associate Professor are on leave then charge of HOD will be handed
over to Assistant Professor (Grant).
c) If all HOD, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor are on leave then Principal of
the college will take decision of handing over the charge of HOD.
Replacement of Teacher:
If a teacher (Grant or Non Grant) is on leave then the teaching workload of the teacher will be
divided among the other teachers (Grant or Non Grant) in the department.
