About Us

Late Karmaveer Bhausaheb Hiray, a visionary educationist and a social reformer with an acute sense of social justice envisioned education as a means of social upliftment. Subsequently, he established the renowned educational institute Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir in 1952 at Malegaon. The institute has spread its roots in diverse fields of education. Arts, Science and Commerce College, Manmad was founded by Loknete Vyankatraoji Hiray in 1969 with the vision to provide the students of Manmad and nearby rural regions the opportunity to pursue higher education at their doorstep. This provided the students an opportunity to excel in their respective fields of interest and pave way to their hidden potential.

The college runs different courses under Arts, Science and Commerce stream as a part of traditional education. However, the college is building a strong bond between traditional education and skilled based education. It has recently started skill based courses; Software Development and System Administration, Electronic Instruments Maintenance and Food Processing, Medical Lab and Molecular Diagnostic Technology and Banking and Financial Services under B.Voc. and Community college respectively. The college has done every effort to bring in new courses that would enable the students of rural areas to compete in the professional world. The college has recently got associated with MOOC- NPTEL/Swayam as a local chapter which offers online courses conducted by reputed IITs of the nation.

The college has 29 well qualified teaching faculties. They try at their best to make the process of teaching, learning student centric. They pursue pedagogic research for effective classroom teaching and learning leading to quality education. The college has 6 research supervisors. They guide many research scholars to pursue research to bring out innovation. The department of Economics and Marathi is about to start a research centre to address the research needs of the students. This will surely help us to build an enriched research culture. The college is likely to start a PG course in Organic Chemistry. They also have keen interest to participate in academic events at national and international levels to upgrade themselves. The college has 05 post graduate department viz. Marathi, Hindi, English, Economic and Commerce.

The college was conferred upon the status of 'A' grade in the second cycle of accreditation by NAAC. It has all geared up to undergo the third cycle of accreditation to continue its efforts to maintain the mark of excellence. The college is striving hard to establish its own brand in sports. In realization of its efforts, a number of students have excelled on the National and International platform in sports. The college attempts to provide state-of the art sports facilities to the students.

In its social commitment, the college is keen on putting extra efforts on making the whole campus green. As a result, the campus is blooming with greenery all around it. On the similar line, the college prioritizes issues of water conservation, green and clean campus, awareness about female feticide, addiction, voting, health, etc. These issues are being addressed on a day to day basis under NSS. The college also contributes to the cause of nation building. The NCC unit is very unique. It has a remarkable track record to train students to become defense personnel. In 2019-20, the NCC unit has successfully trained many cadets to get into defense services.

The college is very keen on establishing a centre for cultural excellence. This will help to identify the potential artists in students and scaffold them to become full-fledged artists. Its annual magazine 'Avishkar' addresses issues of social importance. The college keenly chooses the issues for Avishkar Magazine each year to create a platform for students, teachers, parents, alumni, etc to put forth their views on such issues and initiate a thought provoking discussion.
